Actually the last "official" combat soldier to leave Vietnam was in "D" Company 3/21st Inf. sometime around August 15th 1972.The Battalion Commander came out on the last chopper to meet the last men out. As they boarded the Huey one mans helmet was blown off by the rotor wash. He ended up being the last man to board the last chopper out. Guess who that was? lol
